Colin I’Anson MA RHAD
Lead Audiologist / Owner
Colin grew up in Ayrshire in the West coast of Scotland. From there he went to study in St Andrews for 4 years, leaving with a degree but more importantly having met his future wife (from Lisburn). Having followed her to Edinburgh, Colin worked in the banking and finance sector for a few years before making the change to audiology when he joined House of Hearing in 2007.
There he completed his training and examinations to become a Registered Hearing Aid Audiologist, first with Hearing Aid Council which was later brought under the banner of the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). Colin was able to work alongside some of the best in the industry for hearing aid fitting and added to his skill by qualifying in various forms of wax removal, refining his skills under the supervision of a highly experienced ENT nurse.
Janet Dougan
Front of House
Janet joined Lisburn Hearing Centre in 2015, initially at an offshoot clinic in the Kennedy Centre. Now based in Lisburn, Janet loves nothing more than making people feel at home when they come in to see us. As a hearing aid wearer herself, Janet has a great understanding of what our patients are experiencing when dealing with a hearing loss.
Janette Lavery
Front of House
Janette came to Lisburn Hearing Centre, more recently, in 2022, job sharing with Janet. With wide experience of working with the public Janette provides the warmest of welcomes. The similarity in names for the front-of-house team causes occasional confusion with clients and regular mix-ups for Colin.
On arrival you will step into a bright, spacious reception area providing a warm welcome to all coming in to see us. Two bespoke consulting rooms allow us to offer the best of services for both wax-removal and hearing aid fittings. Our bespoke, custom built, testing booth provides the ideal testing facility for the most accurate results.
Why use us?Lisburn Hearing Centre was founded in 2006 by David Parkinson, already an experienced audiologist, and has served the local community ever since. Having started off on Bachelors Walk, David moved the practice to its current premises in 2019, fitting out the shop to his own specifications. And doing much of the work himself!
David continued to build the business by providing a personal and consistent service through thick and thin, throughout the pandemic, despite the arrival of large chains.
In 2022, with an eye on retirement, David was looking to sell the business, passing it onto to someone who shared his ethos of customer-first service. It was the same summer of that year that Colin I’Anson moved from Edinburgh to Lisburn with his family and was looking to also begin a new chapter in working life.
Having qualified as an audiologist in 2008 and with nearly 15 years of experience with one of the largest independent hearing care providers in the UK, Colin quickly realized that Lisburn Hearing Centre presented a unique opportunity to continue serving the community in the way he knows best. Initially working in the practice for a few months, Colin then purchased the business in April 2023, with David staying on in a part time consultancy basis.
Our friendly team provide the highest level of advice and service, and are passionate about helping people hear better.
